DS9 is now DS10

Wow! Both of my boys are now officially in double digits. My babies are growing up (sniff) and I am feeling very old (big sniff).

For his birthday, he invited 5 of his school friends over to his house for a sleep over and party. I don't know why boys call them slumber parties. Nobody slept until after 5 am. I was ready to fall over dead from exhaustion. And they don't sit quietly and watch movies, giggle, etc. No, heck no, they are running through the house, tackling each other and screaming, "get him, get him!"

Oh yay!

But, they really were a nice acting group of kids (as 4th grade boys go) and they had fun. Now, hubby and DS10 are sick (probably from lack of sleep--the goobers) with a cold.

I can't wait to get in bed and SLEEP! I need it!

Hard to believe

It's hard to believe that I haven't blogged anything in so long.

We got our CAT scan results back and there were no blockages, no misshapen places, etc.
The antibiotics seemed to be working. So we were sent on our way with instructions to finish up the antibiotics and come back in if the symptoms reappeared.

They did. Two days after the antibiotics ended. Kiddo is very dark under the eyes, has headaches, is congested. He wants to sleep all of the time. He is miserable. Can't understand why this is hanging on for so long.

They ran a culture of John's snot, but found only normal things. So, we go back on Tuesday to see what can be done now. Go figure.

meds, tests, and CAT scans, oh my!

Well, the last couple of weeks have been eventful. After 3 full rounds of antibiotics and 1 failed attempt at another (he was allergic to it), we were finally referred to an Ear, Nose, Throat specialist in Fayetteville.

Finding the office was an adventure since the person who handles referrals at the pediatrician's office gave us the wrong address and the phone number to a different office! Talk about convenient. Once I was able to get the correct phone number and find out the correct address, getting there was a breeze. However, we did arrive over an hour late.

The doctor was fantastic! He did a visual exam and ordered CAT scans and then changed his antibiotic to Biaxin, which is stronger.

Kiddo made it through the CAT scan, but was terrified at what would happen before he went. We went back to the doctor and found out that the infection was definitely responding to the new medication and that was a very good sign. There are no abnormalities in how his sinus' are shaped and the openings are fine. All in all, a very good report. So we will continue with the antibiotics and watch for continued problems.

Today, we filmed my youngest son's science project. It was disastrous from beginning to end. We finally got it finished and it is truly Monty Python-esque!
